2005 Reports
The 2005 Iowa Youth Survey is the 11th in a series of youth surveys that have been completed every three years since 1975. Participation was sought from all public and non-public schools in the state. Students in the 6th, 8th, and 11th grades answered questions about their attitudes and experiences regarding substance abuse and violence, and their perceptions of their peers, family, school and neighborhood/community environments. A total of 98,246 questionnaires were received representing 98.4% of the public school districts and 13.9% of the non-public schools in the state.
The 2005 youth survey utilized most of the questions and responses used in the 2002 survey, and added several new questions related to bullying, exercise, diet, weight and grades. Survey reports list responses to every question on the survey, providing total percentages and breakdowns by grade and gender.
The 2005 reports contain a new section with data combined
for selected questions and presented in easy-to-read charts. Thirty-four
constructs within nine framework domains are included with breakdowns
by grade and gender.
Reports are available in the following categories: State of Iowa, Counties,
Judicial Districts, DECAT Regions, Department of Human Services Service
Areas and the Department of Public Health's Substance Abuse Treatment
Managed Care Plan Regions and Substance Abuse Prevention Service Areas.
A Trend Report comparing 2005 data with the 2002 and 1999 youth survey
data will be available soon.
